My husband returned from a 15 month tour in Iraq in December. For his homecoming we went to Florida to see family for few weeks. My father had given my husband and I, a dining room set that has been in our family since before I was born. We were having the furiture shipped back to Texas.
Here is the letter I submitted to claims. It gives all the details as I kept track during this ordeal.

To Whom this may concern,
Our furniture was delivered on Saturday 1-26-08 at 730pm. Authorized Movers only sent one man to deliver my dining room table, chairs, 10 foot hutch with glass and a large box with the items listed below.
When the company initially arrived to pack the furniture they refused to take the 10 foot hutch apart and wrap it in two separate pieces.
The driver arrived and argued about giving me a receipt for my $312 dollars that he said had to be in cash when he originally called to set up delivery. He finally used my computer to print out a receipt to show I paid.
He started by bringing in the chairs. I called the movers (954 410 5131) to ask why they had only sent one man to move the furniture. The Authorized Movers Representative (Levi Alon) I spoke with tried to tell me that delivery is different than pick up. I told him that our contract stated THEY would deliver the furniture and put it together. I told him there was nothing in my contract that stated my husband and I had to assist the mover to get our Hutch into our home so that it would not get broken. He said he would find out and called Eli Transport (the Mover that was here at my house) on his cell phone. The mover became extremely angry after the phone conversation with Live and started cursing my husband and I. He was using profanity and began throwing things around. He was mad that I had called and said he has moved $50k furniture with no problems. My ten yr old and two yr old were downstairs and I had to send them upstairs because they were getting upset at this man yelling in our home.
He began throwing our chairs down as he brought them in and ultimately broke two of them. He tried to say it wasnt him when he unwrapped them but I heard them snap as he threw them approximately three feet. The hutch was dragged from his truck and then put on a dolly at the bottom. It didnt fit all the way and there are scrapes and chunks of wood missing. There is not one chair that he did not damage as well as the table top and the legs to the table. When we asked about the glass for the inside of the hutch and the box, he had no idea what we were talking about and said it was never loaded onto the truck. He signed our copy of the Household goods descriptive inventory admitting that all of our items were damaged, and two not delivered at all. He finally left..
We had to call the MPs and request a car come because the man was so irate.
We called Levi Alon back at 954 410 5131 once the driver left to ask about the missing box and glass. HE said he had just spoke with the driver and he said nothing about missing items and that everything was delivered. When we told him the driver signed the receipt stating items were damaged AND missing, he told us he would look into it and call us back. We ended up calling him back four times the following day and in the end he didnt remember to check on the box. He said he thought we got it. He said he would look into it but just to file a claim. SO no box and no glass and a bunch of broken furniture. All this for $1310, plus another $35 to have someone come out and tell us how much it would be to fix it.
The glass that is missing is a four part set that fits inside the hutch. They did locate the missing glass to the hutch and said it would be fed ex to us. It arrived 1-30-08 via US MAIL and one of the four pieces is broken also. They just taped all four pieces together with nothing in between, The glass has a special etching that runs along the back and there are no glass shops here in town that do this type of work. The nearest glass shop is over an hour away and then we would have to drive back again to pick it up.
The box contained-
1. XLARGE light brown Abercrombie and Fitch mens coat
2. XSMAll Leather and suede womens coat with light brown fur lining
3.2- Sweatshirts we had just bought for our 10 yr old
4.2 pair levis for our 10 yr old
5.4 dress and 2 long sleeve t shirts for our 10 yr old
6. My husbands brand new Timberland boots he has never worn
7. My new Brown and white sketchers
8. All of our Xmas presents from my parents, my husbands parents, his grandparents and his aunts and uncles.-Too much to remember.
9. New toys for my 2yr old.
