Best Time Movers moved my all of my furnishings and belongings from my apartment located at 14440 Parkvale Road, Apt. 2, Rockville, MD to my storage unit located on E. Gude Drive in Rockville on April 14. Upon completion of that move, every item in my apartment was moved without incident. There was nothing broken or missing during that move.
Again on August 3, Best Time Movers moved all of my furnishings and belongings from my storage unit located on E. Gude Drive in Rockville, MD to my new home located at 18140 Chalet Drive, Apt. 303, Germantown, MD, however this time there is a large beveled glass top to my coffee table, three boxes and a floor lamp that was not delivered. The movers also damaged on of my bedroom dressers by putting a large puncture hole in the back of the dresser.
Because Best Time Movers' office was closed when the movers completed my move (at 6:00 P.M.), I called Best Time Movers the very next day to discuss the missing and damaged items. I spoke with a Ms. Betty Rosen, who told me that she is the president of Best Time Movers.initially Ms. Rosen made various excuses for the movers, suggesting that maybe the movers left the glass table top in the storage unit, and I confirmed that that was not the case. I told her that the movers lied and said that there wasn't a glass top in the storage to be moved.
That is an out right lie because Best Time Movers packed the glass in one of their moving boxes when they moved my things out of my apartment in Rockville MD on April 14th. I also mentioned to Ms. Rosen that I had pointed out to Oscar, the foreman of the three movers who moved my things on August 3rd, I asked that they be extra careful with my glass table top as it is very heavy (at that point I looked directly at the boxed glass table top) and Oscar said for me not to worry about it that they would be careful. But when the movers completed moving my furnishings and belongings, my glass table top was not delivered. They did, however, deliver the coffee table with the glass top missing.
[NOTE: Oscar called my cell phone to tell me that one of the legs one a foyer table was broken and I acknowledged that, however, he made no mention of the coffee table was without a top — something that any professional mover would have noticed and pointed out to the customer.]
I have pictures of the coffee table with the glass top (before) and without the missing glass top (after) as well as pictures of the missing floor lamp. I also have two witnesses who saw Best Time Movers pack the missing glass table top during my move on April 14th and who also witnessed Best Time Movers move the floor lamp and moved both items into my storage unit. I have another witness who saw the glass top and floor lamp inside my storage unit on the same day, just minutes before Best Time Movers moved my belongings out of the storage unit and into my home in Germantown, MD.
When I spoke with Ms. Betty Rosen, after she made various invalid excuses for the movers, she then became very curt and rude towards me and said that Best Time Movers does not have to pay me anything for my missing glass table. She was extremely rude and she hung up on me, not giving me a chance to mention the other items that are missing and the damage that was done to my dresser. This is very upsetting because I've used Best Time Movers in the past and was very pleased with their services. However, this is not how I expected to be treated being that I was a loyal customer.
Because Best Time Movers refused to take responsibility for their negligent actions I have no choice but to file a civil lawsuit again Best Time Movers. I am suing for the replacement of my coffee table which is worth $300, my floor lamp, worth $100, repair of my dresser $100.00 and mental anguish $500.00 I will also sue for punitive damages, because businesses should not be allowed to mistreat customers at the cost of their customers.
