I made 2 call to from Piarco International Airport Departure Lounge to New York. The first was to an answering machine and the second I spoke to an individual for 1 min. I received 2 charges to my account for 34.93 and 34.94.
I called the 8006060578 on my statement and was directed to International Satellite Communications and spoke to Alex Montana. After I queried the charges and he told me they are licensed by the FCC and all international calls are charged from 10.00 to 15.00 connection fees. Rates per min are 3.99 per min. And you are billed a minimum 5 mins. No matter if you only used 1 min you will be billed 5 mins. He said I should have asked the operator what were the charges. How am I suppose to know this when the machine give you directions to follow but nothing pertaining to an operator.
I was given a first time user courtesy refund of 27.94 maybe because I was nasty about their outrageous charges. The FCC needs to shut this company down
