I took my daughter to one open casting in Austin and my niece to another one in Dallas. We saw two different "teams". THe first team was a nice young man and Dwight Agnor, Dwight was an absolute prick to his co-worker. I felt so sorry for the kid. Don't be fooled by Dwight, he seems convincing but they only want you to sign up to get these pictures done - even if they know that you don't have a chance. They were "picking" everybody to be conned into getting these pictures done.
It is actually a good deal on professional photos, but don't do it unless you just plan on having nice photos. The only way that you know that you may have a chance is if Dwight hangs around you the whole time and tries to get you to sign a mother agreement - then you might have what it takes. If they don't ask you at that event to sign a mother agreement then they are scamming you into paying big money for pictures and nothing else.
The event in Austin was much different. It was a team of two girls, much more real and down to earth than Dwight was. It was very reassuring to meet them. One of the girls, Deanna is full of crap - she told everyone that she is signed with Elite (a model agency) and that she is making big money and all sorts of other bullshit. She doesn't even look like a model and everyone could tell she was lying, I called two different people at Elite and they have never heard of Deanna. Elite was also very interested in what I thought about Model Search NYC. The other girl was Amy and she was probably a model before but was more humble and very energetic about her job.
Together this team did a much better job picking people as I felt they were much more honest about who had a chance or not. But the Deanna girl was on a power trip or something and presented herself as superior to everyone else.
The bottom line is that these people are absolute liars. Any business that promotes this dishonesty needs to be shut down. Dwight should be ashamed to have people running around the country telling people that they are high paid models. People all over Texas are scrounging to save $500 for pictures so Dwight can line his pockets and ultimately mess with the self esteem of all of these people. I have no problem with making a buck, but it must be done honestly.
