I called the number to order one Buxton Leather Bag from a television ad. I was answered by a mechanical voice and told to speak the name of the item. After that I was given a choice of buttons to push for Yes and No answers. Ordering one bag seemed to go smoothly and I was given an amount due to $26, including S & H. The recording continued with "May we add (item) to your order at this great savings price of (??)" Each time I pressed 1 for no, and it would say "thank you" and continue with another offer. After several of these, I just hung up, and I wasn't even sure if my initial order had gone through. The next day I checked my credit card online and sure enough there was a charge on it from "Merchandise Direct." It was for $71.40!! I waited a few days thinking it might be corrected, then went ahead and filed a protest with my credit card company. Yesterday a package arrived with two bags and two small boxes, which I think are their little recording reminders, which I had refused several times. I have not opened the boxes. There was no paperwork whatsoever included in the package, and the address I entered above is the return address from the outside of the package. I will pursue my protest with my credit card company. I noticed complaint #301869 had very nearly the same experience that I have had.
