Over the past couple years, I've receive multiple bills from Americatel for calls made to South and Central America from a phone number that has never been mine. So even if the calls were ever made, there's no way they can be connected to me, other than the fact that my name was used. I have never been to South or Central America. I have never called these places. I have never had a reason to call there, nor do I speak Spanish.
I've been told, every time I call, to disregard the bill, only to receive another. Then, today, I received a letter from a collection agency. Although even more irate than I have ever been with them, I'm looking on the bright side... This may be my chance to sue them for marring my credit without merrit.
I wish I could tell you how to avoid this company, but I'd never heard of them before I got their bill. All I can do now is persue this with the fcc, the ftc, the collection agency and whomever else to whom I can plead my case.
