Emperor's Elegancy
Scam artists offering non-existent merchandise (tuxedo slippers, etc)

I placed an order for a pair of monogrammed tuxedo slippers back in Nov with this company. I even received an email confirmation of my order and, naturally, they immediately charged my credit card for the purchase.

After weeks of waiting patiently for my slippers I started emailing them for a report on the status of my order only to be ignored. Then when I went back to their website to obtain their address and phone number I realized to my horror that they do not list and address or a phone number in their website at all. They only offer an online email fill in box but my emails to them using that online form were also ignored.

I even tried sending them 20 emails (using three different email accounts that I have) to them at: [email protected] in case there was an issue of a spam filter keeping my messages from reaching them but still no reply.

With no address or telephone listing I had no idea in what state (jurisdiction) these people where so I did not know to whom I could complain.

Then I had the bright idea of contacting their credit card processor who were listed at the bottom of one of their website pages as "Americart Shopping Cart Service" (which I located at: 10 Constitution Blvd. South, Shelton, CT 06484 Tel: 203-922-7918). I read in their website's online contract that any merchant that wishes to sign up with them has to provide an address, phone number and, of course, billing address information. Because of that statement I figured that they would be able to tell me how else I could contact the owners of Emperor's Elegancy so I sent them a request via email.

But, the fellow that I corresponded with at Americart refused to help me.instead he would "hem and haw" and proved to be quite evasive with information when I explained my situation to him and why I was asking him to give me an address or telephone number where I could contact someone at Emperor's Elegancy.

Like I said I did get my money back when I complained to my credit card issuer about Emperor's Elegancy. I also wrote to them a letter in which I advised them to put Emperor's Elegancy in one of their "watch out for" lists.

BTW... Before filling out this usacomplaints.com report I went to the emperors elegancy website today and noted that the webhosting company has taken it down (they probably haven't been paid) but I strongly suspect that these scam artists will resurface under some other name in the Internet.

I've learned my lesson and from now on before I order from a new vendor I will double check to see that their website lists a physical address and telephone number and I call their phone number to see who answers and I will also verify their business licensing with their home state authorities before placing an order.

And, of course, I will also check usacomplaints.com to see if there are any complaints against them.
