In the Spring and Summer of 2007 Directv advertised on TV that they would have 150 HD channels by fall. The cost of the HD service was advertised at $4.95 a month no mention that the price would be going up or the HD service split into 2 services.in lat Summer, when I signed up for service, which I did online at their webpage I was lead to believe that I would be getting a free portable DVD player.
By the middle of December I never received the DVD player so I called Directv they said I would be getting it with in 8 days. I got a $50.00 gift card instead. I was told by Directv that when I signed up I was given a number that only Directv knew what it was, each person was assigned a number if they called in or logged on they would all be different. These numbers assigned a free gift to each person, mine was the gift card. I explained that when I singed on it said free portable DVD player, that is what I was lead to believe when I signed on, now I have been swindled.
Plus as of this date December 26 and Directv only has about 80 HD stations and has decided to divide its HD service into 2 services HD service and extended HD service.
Both of these situations are a rip off and deceptive trade practices. I will cancel my subscription to them and just them try and collect the early termination fee.
