Erroneous Collections Status Reported to Credit Bureaus

I paid off my Verizon bill from an account in West Virginia in April of however when my credit report was pulled as late as December the report is listing this as an account in collections.

I notified Verizon about the problem in November and recieved a letter stating that the account is in fact paid in full. However, potential creditor's seem to care little about this type of proof.
