I parked in Baileyton, TN on 11/03/07, a Friday night. After parking, I drank eight beers, talked to my mother on my cell phone for a while, cut up on the C.B. A little while and then went to sleep. Someone thought it would be funny to report me for drinking in the truck and called Swift.instead of dealing with me as a person, Swift called the Tennessee Highway Patrol. I was woken up on Saturday morning after about three hours of sleep, given a field sobriety test and arrested. I spent the weekend in jail. I was arraigned Monday morning and I pled guilty under duress to get out of jail (otherwise, according to the information I was given I would have been in jail until a preliminary hearing on Dec 28).
Swift had already come and got the truck with all of my belongings and taken it back to Greer, SC. I had only the clothes I was wearing on Saturday morning when I was wakened. Stranded. Swift could have just fired me.instead, they made sure my whole life was taken from me. After all, a Swift driver is just like a number and there is a procedure, mathematical and calculating, for dealing with him/her.
