I received a call from a lady who had what I would call a "smokers voice" a few weeks ago and she said that her and her husband owned an office supply company and they were moving out of state.
She said they were selling everything at cost and proceded to go through the list of stuff they offered. I, thinking it sounded like a good idea, jumped right in like an idiot and told her I'd take post it notes, scotch tape, highlighters. Pens and correction tape. She never gave me a final price but with the prices she gave me on the items I was kind of adding them up in my head. I expected it to be around five or six hundred dollars.
When I received to invoice a few weeks later it was for $4550.09. I started going through all the items she had sent me and she had charged me $. 99 for each post it pad instead of for the whole pack like she had said. She did the same thing with all of the other stuff.
I have left her several messages and in the last I informed her that I was aware of her scam and that I would not be sending her one penny for any of the stuff and that if she did not return my phone call that I would gladly accept all of the items as a gift. I've yet to hear back from her but if I do I'll update this report.
