JP Morgan Chase Bank
Chase increased the APR to my credit card account from 7.99% to 27.24%. Ripoff

My Chase credit card account went from a 7.99% to 27.24% APR. The reason I was given for this increase by two Chase customer representatives: one return payment on 7/26. However, Chase did receive a timely full payment from me on 8/1 (due date of 8/6). I hardly think a 27.24% APR is justifiable for one return payment. The return payment occurred as a result of a mistake made by my credit union which they are prepared to take full responsibility for.

However, when I discussed this with a Chase customer service representative on 8/24, I was told my APR "may" be reduced with a letter of explanation from the credit union.

Then as my discussion continued with the Chase customer representative, the phone was hung up by the rep. I have filed complaints with the BBB, Washington State Attorney General, and Delaware State Attorney General. I feel that a victim of identity theft should be shown a bit more leniency. That is how the mishap occurred with my credit union in the first place. Ironically, Certegy is the company that notified me of the identity theft. They happen to be a payment processing center for Chase.

So, in an odd way, Chase is connected to my victimization through identity theft and the increased APR. Currently, Washington State Employee's Credit Union is sending a letter to Chase in order in an attempt to remedy this matter.
