Rip-offs victimized many consumers deceptive company liars

I have had so many problems with Cellular One and then started hearing horror stories from other people from all the surrounding counties.

We live in a small town in the south and it is my understanding that we can only be serviced by maybe 2 cellular phone companies, Cellular One being one of them.

I sent in a payment once and for some reason did not get credited to my account. I called them after receiving several notices and phone calls. I told them I had mailed in the payment. They told me they had not received it.

I told them I would check with my bank to see if it had cleared. I was told that I needed to go ahead and make a payment right then and I refused. I asked the person I was talking to if they (Cellular One) was at fault, who was going to pay my bank if they charged me for getting a copy of the check. She told me that I would have to pay it and if I could prove that it was their error then they would discuss it with me.

I called my bank and sure enough the check had cleared just a few days after I had mailed it in. I decided to go and cancel my service. I went to the store where the contract was signed and told them what had happened and how rude everyone was to me.

They got someone else on the phone and I made arrangements that day to catch up the bill through August and made sure talking to this woman that everything was caught up. She said if I would keep my phones they would give me six months at half price on one phone and credit my account $20.00 for the rudeness of their employees. I decided to keep my account.

I was told that I was paid up on both accounts until September. Before hanging up I asked again to make sure I was caught up and would not receive a bill until September. Guess what. I received bills charging me for August and other charges I don't even know what they were. I was furious. After several months and waiting for them to get my account straightened out I called this woman whom I had talked to before.

She had made some notes on my account but they were nothing like what we had talked about on the phone. I canceled the one phone and was told that it would take thirty days to cancel (How can they do this.

They can hook you up in a few minutes but can't cancel you for thirty day?) That is a rip-off in itself. Is that legal? I was told that I would have to pay the additional money for the 30 days that it was going to take to cancel. So I told her to give me a total on what it was going to cost. I paid by check over the phone. I was told that that was all I would owe.

I was paid up including the 30 days to cancel. My account was clear. WRONG!!! They charged me with something else and upon calling this woman back AGAIN she didn't seem to know what I was talking about.

I have made payments on the phone on both accounts at once and they failed to credit one account but credited the second account with what they were supposed to pay the first account with.

After numerous phone calls no one could understand what I was saying and yet it was as clear as the nose on your face what they had done.

Now I am being told that even though I told them I wanted the other account canceled by phone that they cannot accept that. I have to go down to the store where I signed the contract and fill out an explanation of why I am canceling. So now they have another couple of months charged to this account.

I recently received a bill with over $400 worth of charges. They told me I had renewed my contract. I told them I had not renewed it. They were supposed to get this bill straightened out but I have received nothing. Now I am getting the phone calls again which I am not even going to answer.

These people need to be stopped. I have been lied to so many times and just given stupid explanations. A few have been nice but most are so rude you can't get anywhere with them. Also when you called customer service you were being put on hold for up to 20 minutes.

I heard the other day that in this small town that at least 10 people had canceled in one day. Everyone is so frustrated but we can't get service like other people. We are very limited in our choices and this company is taking full advantage. I am going to send a complaint to the FCC and I am going to start encouraging others to do the same.

I am not paying another cent until they get my bill straight. I have done this in the past and boy they have been ugly. They usually ended up just adding more charges on. Both phones were misrepresented as to how much it was going to cost each month.

I was told one plan was a $15.00 plan (it was always in the $20's) I was told the other plan was a $35.00 plan and was at least 45 to 55 dollars by the time they added in this and that. They don't tell you about all these hidden charges.

This is the worst cell phone company around. I hope to see the day that someone brings them down and hopefully all of us that have been overcharged etc. Will be able to get some of our money back.
