On July 17 I took two items to the Expert Dry Cleaners on Wunderlich in Houston Texas. One Item was Khaki Linen dress and the other was a skirt. The skirt needed to be dry cleaned and repaired. The dress on the other, although the tag states it can be washed, I requested to be dry cleaned with Sizing added. I am a plus size female about 57 or 58 inches, which is fairly tall. I suffer from a condition called Lymphedema, which causes massive swelling in my lower extremities. Therefore I very rarely wear dresses except for Sundays because I am very self conscious o f my legs. This particular dress I wear to work on occasion from time to time. The dress was very long, basically dragging the ground. I have never washed the dress, I have only had it dry cleaned. Needless to say when I received my dress back on Saturday July 21 I noticed it was very, very stiff.
It has never been like this before after coming back from the cleaners. Later Saturday evening I tried the dress on just to make sure everything was ok, an immediately noticed the length of the dress. The dress now stops at least 2-3 inches above my ankles. I immediately became upset and started crying because it is so difficult to find dresses and skirts long enough that I am confident in wearing. I returned to the cleaners on Tuesday July 24 and spoke with the clerk (Annette) and explained the situation. I told her the dressed seemed to have been washed and dried and starched, which caused it to shrink. Annette examined the dress and stated yes, that is starch and yes I do recall this dress being much longer than this. She asked me what I paid for the dress and I told her probably 40 or 50 dollars, it has been a while. She agreed to send the dress back to the location that actually does the cleaning for examination.
Later that evening I received a call from (713-301-6740 Thanhha Pham) the person I spoke with Nicole Pham claimed she is the owner and that she was calling to tell me that the dress had been dry-cleaned and it was Sizing in the dress and not Starch. Nicole stated we can remove the sizing if you like, but this is not starch. Needless to say, the call went downhill from there. I told Nicole, whatever they did to clean the dress caused it to shrink and that I had dress cleaned many times in the past and that it always came back the same length and this time it is shorter. The dress was also to big because it is a size 32 and I have lost weight to a size 24-26, but I still wore it for the length. The dress is not almost too tight.
Nicole went on to argue her point stating they did not to cause the dress to shrink, I even told her that Annette even agreed the dress was longer and had starch in it. She still denied they had done anything wrong. I asked her for the owner information and told her I would seek legal advice. That really pissed Nicole off, she became louder and more belligerent stating you do that, have your attorney to send me a letter. I asked her for the address, she rattled it off super fast as if she did not want to give it to me and hung up. I called her back and asked for the information, told her to send the dress back to the other location and ended the call. Because she rattled her information to me so fast, I had to go online and do some research. The cleaner where she is actually located is DryClean USA. I picked up the dress the following morning and while speaking with Annette she said that the owners (Annette) should really do more to make the customers happy. Annette stated she had had this issue with two other customers; the problem was shrinkage and clothes not being serviced as requested. Annette stated their names but I do not recall.
I think this is horrible service to not even try and assist the customer in coming to a resolution. Even if Expert Cleaners aka DryClean USA does not pay anything for my dress I want Nicole to admit that the dress was not cleaned as asked, which I know will not happen. Just by my conversation with her, this has happened many, many times in the past. It is funny although she was adamant about their cleaning the dress as I asked; she never once stated the dress was this length when you brought for cleaning. Also Nicole made the comment to me even if we did wash it, it states on the tag it can be washed and dried.
