I used Starving Vetreans Moving to move from about 70 miles. Their people never came to inspect/review my home and although they were given ample info about the size of my home (4 bedrooms), they sent only 2 men for the job. They showed up late, they brought insufficient clothing boxes. As a result of this the move began in chaos. I called and complained and they sent another mover, however it wasn't good enough. The move was horrible. It took nearly 8 hours to empty my house. I catered to the workers, gave them drinks and meals to keep their strength up.
We finally had my home emptied and we began the 70 mile drive. We had been leading the truck and had asked them to follow us. Once we got onto the highway we lost them. Later, at the house, they gave us the excuse of stopping for food and the restroom. After they completed emptying the truck, it was quite late and we signed off on the job and paid the movers.
Within 2 days we began to notice that we couldn't find some items. My laptop computer and our videocamera and tapes were missing. I contacted the company about this and they said they would pass on a message to the workers to look in their truck for my missing things. The company didn't care at all. I filed a police report and nothing happened as my complaint was denied by the drivers and company.
Sadly, all the tapes with the videocamera were of our family and members that had passed away and were now lost forever. We never got our things back, nor any satisfaction from the company. Beware.
