I received a card indicating I had approved Credit limit. I contacted the number and inquired as to the company, and what bank they represented. I was asked for my Social Security Number and Bank Account information.
Immediately I questioned why they wanted that information. I was asked again for a SSN. I declined. I then asked for a supervisor and was told they do not take calls.
Finally after speaking to a floor manager, I asked how they received my name. After recently moving with my job for the US Army, I know they were sold my address. I asked where they received my name. I was told it was through a bad credit report from somewhere.
Knowing I have no bad credit anywhere, and not having recently been turned down. I told the company I wanted to speak to their security department. They had none. I was informed to get the card they would charge me 199.95 on my checking account.
That was the last flag that went up, they wanted to charge me for their card.
I am sending an official complaint to the company with a copy sent to the better business bureau, to include a few news services. I recommend everyone does that and put these people out of business.
I will post any response I get from the company. I just doubt I get one. This information will also be sent out to all Criminal Investigative Units in the US Army for dissemination to all Service Members before they get scammed.
