Maytag sold me a Lemon and now they won't make problem right Ripoff

My husband and I purchased a Maytag refrigerator model#MFD2560HES on November 17th at Home Depot store in Longview, TX. The first indication that this appliance was going to be a problem occurred almost exactly a month later on 12/21/04. The refrigerator stopped cooling. This was just the beginning of our nightmare.

There has been many repair calls, examples are refrigerator stopped cooling 3times, the freezer kept frosting up, the evaporator fan and jazz control kit was replaced, the ice maker has been totally reinstalled twice, etc. The repair company had been called out a total of 8 times to repair. I considered Maytag the best overall and considered myself lucky to have been able to have purchased the product. My husband is in law enforcement and I stay home with kids so our income is not great and the $2, ooo. Oo it cost to buy the refrigerator did not come by easy in any way.

The first time it stopped cooling it was repaired and I thought we were ok but when the second time came around and the refrigerator stopped cooling I called Maytag and was offered $25.00 for my loss in food. How was this going to replace almost $200.00 in lost food and baby formula for 6 month old twins, I'll never know. I was digusted that I was being treated like I didnt know anything. The woman I spoke with (Pamela) a corporate officer advised me that it was not Maytags responsibilty to pay for my unfortunate circumstances and there was nothing they could do about replacing the refrigerator. Whose responsibility is it??? Maytag is the company that manufactured a defaulty product not me!!! How many times does a refrigerator have to stop working for maytag to consider it a lemon and they replace it?

Well today I spoke with Josh a guy from corp. Office who supposedly could get something done. (NOT HARDLY) He explained that it took 3 times on the same component for them to send the request before a lemon review and then we could either be bought out or refrig. Replaced.
This will be the third time that repairman has been out on same prob refrig not cooling, but get this, the first two non-cooling or freezing incidents happened while on the manufacturers wrnty and the last. This weekends claim happened on extended wrnty. Josh said we needed to talk to extended wrnty people to see if they would do anything for us. We are in the guidelines but we were told today since our extended wrnty had taken affect that maytag could not do anything for us. We were told by extended wrnty (Maytag dependabilty plus) people that since they did not cover us for the first two incidents they could not help us either and there was nothing they could do but send us money for food.??? Tell me why a coporation like Maytag who stands behind their products thinks that this is right to treat a consumer like this, and why is Home Depot still selling this product? Thank you
