I got a moving quote from Mey at Moving Star (DOT #1082608) via email 4/24/07. The estimate was $1149.00. I asked if there was any additional prices I
should be aware of. Mey assured me there was none. On 5/4/07 I ordered the service for 5/19/07 and paid a deposit of $173.00 via debit card, leaving a balance of $976.00.
The moving company called and asked if I could change the date to the day before and said they would be there in the morning. I agreed. The movers showed up late afternoon speaking poor English. My things were loaded which was significantly less than the original list. After the things were loaded I was asked for a
"customary" tip. I gave then a $50.00 check. Then they told me that the total price was now $2499.00! My things were already loaded. I was told I could not get them until I paid the balance. They would not unload. I
gave them all the cash I had $1000.00 and was told I must pay the balance upon delivery.
I could understand a slight difference in my favor due to a small amount but to increase it over 100% is consumer robbery. I have been calling and leaving messages for over 2 weeks. I have called Mey and left messages as well as sent an email. I called and left messages at the main office in Sacramento. I finally got someone to answer the phone yesterday (6/5/07 the day I was to receive delivery) and spoke with a Collena. Collena said I may get my delivery around the 7th or 8th. Shortly after (10:07am) I got a call from "Jenny". Jenny promised to call me back to discuss the inventory list within a few hours. That was yesterday. I am still waiting.
