Not willing to pay for membership in something like "Web Detective", I responded to an offer of a free membership. Well, I figured it couldn't hurt.
But within a day of signing up, my inbox started being swamped with spam, and I continue to get it every day.
All I received from Web Detective was an e-mail from a Savannah Richards making sure I had received an e-mail with my password - what a joke! I also received a second e-mail a day or so later with the same content. Nothing I ever received contained any "password".
Thinking I might get at least SOMETHING in return for all this spam, I followed a link in one of the e-mails to a log-in page, and tried to use the "forgot password". After putting in my e-mail address, I clicked the "Submit" button - and nothing.
With all the spam I've already received in such a short time I know it will just increase. So now I'm going to have to shut down this e-mail which I was using for my e-bay and PayPal accounts, and start over with those.
No money lost, thank goodness, but beware - a "free" membership can just equal a deluge of spam!
