Rip-off, dishonest, fraudulent billing

Company advertised for administrative assistant position. I contacted the company and was asked to come in for an interview and speak with "Grace" on Friday April 27

At the interview, I was informed this was not a temp service or placement agency only a company that gave listings of companies in the area that are hiring but not advertising in the paper (much like the employment office does)."Grace" showed me how the listings were set up with amount of pay, duties required, and company name, number, contact person, and/or website. (just like the employment office)

"Grace" then stated there was a fee of $389. Plus. I informed her I did not have the money at this time as I am unemployed. She stated with a down payment, they could wait until I started working to collect the rest of the money. She went back to speak to her "supervisor" and came back stating this would be acceptable.

I then gave her my credit card to take $100. I signed and initialed my contract. "Grace" then took the information back to her "supervisor" and came back stating that I would need to write a check in the amount of the full balance of $289. Plus, not to put a date on the check because they would have to cash it right away if I did. She also had me leave the name blank so I could get the check back when it was paid in full. She stated this was just a formality so I could use my "membership card" to show EMPLOYERS that I was serious about getting a job and it would look as though I was "paid in full".

When "Grace" handed me back my "contract" that I had initialed, it was folded in half and I put it in my purse with my "membership card". I was shown to a room with books that had all the same information the employment office has listed and the information "Grace" stated would be on there was not there. Rate of pay was always listed as DOE (depending on experience) and a lot of websites that are freely accessible at the library as well. Later, I decided to cancel my contract since I was under the knowledge I had three business days to do.

When I looked at my "contract" again, it was marked "paid in full" and that the payment would be taken out that day if the funds were available. I immediately checked my bank online and they had indeed taken out the rest of the money! I contacted them and was put on hold at Global Personnel for a long time.

When the accounting office came back on the line, she asked if I could wait and I informed her I could not because I was on a cell phone. She stated she would call me back when she got some information as to what happened. She never called so I contacted the Better Business Bureau and the prosecuting attorney's office and called Global Personnel back with that information at which time she stated she could not speak with me now that I had contacted outside sources.

All I want is a full refund of my money and to let everyone else know NOT to use this company because they are charging people for services you can get for free at both the library AND the employment office!
