Being an independent filmmaker, I was looking for a good deal on DVD replication and came across an individual on eBay named David Lieberman.in typing his name, only now do I catch the irony that the first 3 letters of his last name spell LIE, because that's about the only thing this guy did proficiently. He quoted me a price on 1000 DVD9 disks that sounded like a great deal and claimed he consistently undercut Diskmakers.com by 40%. I told him we'd be ready to move forward by the end of the month. When I called him back to place the order, the price had now gone up to not much less than Disk Makers. I questioned him about the discrepancy, to which he apologized and said he made a mistake. I took it at face value and figured it was still a good deal and decided to go forward.
Sadly, this would be the first of many times when David changed his story and told lies to suit his whim. This is a long story that I will summarize — bottom line 30 days and nearly 50 check disks later, I still have yet to receive DVDs that work. Not only that, but each successive check disk submitted for my approval was worse than the last. Glitches causing playback. Scuffs and scars on the disk itself. Jagged edges on the disk foil indicating inferior media quality. Poorly formed disks that separate from the foil. Basically, I've seen beer coasters in better condition than these deplorable DVDs. David is very evasive, never doing anything he says.
Always having an excuse for missing a meeting, canceling last minute, and generally never doing anything he says he'll do when he said he'd do it. Very unprofessional and childish. Karen Collard at Expedia Media LLC is extremely condescending and arrogant. Never once apologizing for stringing me along for over a month. Never once acknowledging the negligence of she and her company. As any indie filmmaker will tell you, we frequently encounter people who stare down their nose at us and don't treat us with an iota of respect. We don't have big money or work for big studios, so people like Karen know they can treat us like crap, so they do so with relish. Very low moral character people who don't give a damn about ethics or doing what's right. Well, at least not without the snotty attitude. Bottom line, if you're an indie filmmaker looking for a good deal on DVD replication, avoid Expedia Media LLC AKA Free Form Film AKA Breakthrough Distribution. Theoretically I'm getting a refund on my money. But David is up to his usual lies, so who knows if it's really true. The saga continues...
