In November of a gentleman came into my office and spoke to us about an advertising opportunity. He represented "Golfworks" and a new golf course community near Chapel Hill/Cary/Apex NC. The neighborhood is called Chapel Ridge and it is honestly a very nice community.
The idea was, we would pay to have our company advertised on a website that would be linked to the website for Chapel Ridge and we would be a "preferred affiliate".
I finally received a letter from the company on January 12. I mailed them our logo and information. Nobody from the company ever contacted me. So, on March 12, I called them. They explained to me that they would have everything ready for me to give final approval to within a week. As of April 18 I have not heard from them again.
The cost of this service was about $700 and we did get 2 rounds of golf a month for just green fees. We did receive that card within a reasonable time, but as far as gaining some "great exposure and advertising", they have not contacted me about having anything finished and its been 5 months.
So, if you do business with this company, you can probably count on getting to play golf for a better rate, but I definately would not use this as a way to generate any business at all.
Best of luck
