I was alarmed when reading my Visa bill to find I had been billed $48.79 for something I had not ordered nor had ever heard of. My credit card did show a phone number next to the billing. I called the company; a female explained to me that I had ordered something else and that when doing so I had also received a calling card or something in the mail. She said that if I didn't respond to it, I was billed automatically. I made it clear to her that I had not ordered ANYTHING out of the ordinary and that I had not received anything in the mail. I made it clear that I didn't authorize any such purchase and never would since I have a good long distance carrier as well as the fact that I buy Costco Calling Cards for 3.5 cents per minute. I would not need any other service period. She told me that she would credit me. I don't know if I have been credited yet since I got another bill for the same amount. One was billed on 6/1/02 and the second one on 7/1/02. I have since called my Visa. They sent me paperwork to fill out so that they can take it off of my bill and investigate it. What is scary to me, as I told the Visa representative, is where they got MY VISA number in the first place. That is what I am waiting to find out. I am planning on getting a whole new card number because I feel like I could be a victim again. And I don't need the hastle of this problem. I work too hard in life to worry about thieves taking me! I hope that this report helps somebody else. And I will be more than happy to talk to anybody if you want me to. I am so glad that I have this place to report this abuse!
