In 1999 I noticed fraudulent accounts on my credit bureaus opened in San Bernadino CA... I have never even been to that part of CA... I contacted Verizon (1999) and informed them I have never lived in that area to open a land line phone. I explained my identity had been stolen and they sent me a HUGE packet to fill out proving I have never left my home town. The item was removed from my credit. Almost 7 years later I recieved a collection letter from Afni Collections. After many attempts to call and speak with someone from this agency I called Verizon Communications again and was basically told they no longer have anything to do with the account... I tried to explain I have NEVER opened account and was told by one of their nice representatives I will need to speak with Afni. It has been THREE WEEKS trying to comunicate with AFNI and have gotten no where... There should be an easier way Fraud Victims can follow to clear their name... Afni states to contact them with in 30days if debt is not ours... I have no number to fax them a letter and can get no physical address to send them a certified letter... I have only been able to send them a letter via regular mail to the PO Box..
