I had been purchasing a dell computer from the Rent a Center in Pasadena. The computer then would not read the dvd burner so I took it in to get serviced, so I thought. One of the store's employees'by the name of Bruno ended up fixing it himself and I had my computer back the next day.
As soon as I brought it home it would now not read the floopy disk drive. OH, no big deal I thought as I never used the floopy drive anyway. As the week went on more and more things happened to the computer. I finally got fed up with the computer so I finally took it in to get serviced again.
This time I made sure to tell Bruno to send it to get serviced by a real computer technician. Being that Christmans was 2 weeks away, I was told by Bruno that it wouldn't come back until after Christmas. Which was no big deal to me. I purchased 2 512 gigs of memory to upgrade the computer. I never thought to get the memory out before it went to get serviced. I TRUSTED BRUNO AND THE EMPLOYEES OF RENT A CENTER.
On the 28th of December I called Bruno to find out if my computer came back from service. I was then RUDELY awakened by the "manager", Niomi, of this particlar store. She ranted and raved about me being late and that I could no longer get the computer back. We went round and round on the phone for 10 minuters or so then I finally told her that if I couldn't get my computer back which I had been paying for on for almost 2 years and all I owed on it was $500 then I wanted the memory I put in it.
Niomi then told me that there was no extra memory in the computer. I went on line and found a phone number to the coporate office and after a day or so I received a phone call from the District Manager, Annette Brooks. And just as I thought, she made every excuse in the book not to believe me.
Even after she found out that the store manaager was lying about the dates the computer was taking back to the store and about how it never even was sent to get serviced. She told me that all she could do was not charge me late charges for a computer I didn't have for almost 3 weeks. And that my weekly payments would go from $55 to $35 a week... WOW! And I was supposed to cool with that.
I then asked her to let me speak to her boss and at first she said I would have to call the corporte office. Then she gave me a name of Walker Ashberry which is supposed to be the Regional Manager. So I did call back to the corporate office and I was told that Regional Managers do not accept phone calls. What kind of freaking crap is that!
I left a message for him anyway and to my amazement, I received a phone call from Annette Brooks several hours later telling me that after receiving a phone call from her boss, she would take off $200 of my final payment to cover for the memory I purchased and that was taken from the computer.
Now remember, at first Annette said there was no way she would reimmberse me in any kind of way, shape or form for memory she wasn't even sure ever existed. So I said no problem. I had already invested all this money in this computer I was not going to lose it even if it meant taking a hit like that.in the end I know they still stuck it to me even if they took off $200 from the last $500 I owed.
It it sad that people and corporations can get a way with stealing from hard working people like me and you. And the employees of Rent a Center are allowed to steal our hard earned money. I trusted Bruno and in the end he screwed me big time. I am still so angry at Niomi and Bruno for lying and stealing. But that is ok... All I have to say to Niomi, Bruno, Annette Brooks and Walker Ashberry, is one word... KARMA!
Just remember folks, what comes around goes around and the great thing is that when it is there turn to be screwed, it will be much worse...
And all I have to say to any comsumers out there is to BEWARE... Of places like Rent a Center. It doesn't matter how good of a customer you are. They will steal from you the first chance they get because they know they can get away with it.
