Like millions, I have succumb to the personable guy at the door with the sympathetic story to buy a magazine. Even though I hate them approaching my door, I seem to fall victim to their slippery and persistent ways, and I really think they should be stopped. I am a single woman, and don't want strangers coming to my door at night for any reason, and although the kids themselves may be doing this as a means to make an "honest" living, it's still not right!
Last night, I foolishly fell for it AGAIN, and renewed my subscription to a magazine, that I could have renewed on the magazine's official site for HALF THE COST! After the fact, I realized I shouldn't have, but honestly, if you are a single female, you don't want to piss off some guy that is pretty shady to begin with.
Tonight I came home and there was another guy with his clipboard just standing around across the street. As soon as I pulled up in the driveway, he approached me. Luckily I had my guard up, and told him someone was already here last night. I watched him as he proceeded to walk a few yards down the street, still standing around waiting for the next person to come home from work.
I have not been able to contact the USA yet and try to cancel my subscription, but I just feel this is a SLEAZY, DISHONEST, INTIMIDATING, AND HARRASSING business that should be stopped. Maybe if enough of us stop buying magazines they will go out of business, but I don't see this happening in the near future, so maybe legal intervention is needed.
