Michigan Veterinary Emergency Care
Ripoff dishonest fraudulent billing

I am writing this letter in regards to my pet, Lady Ruff. When I brought her into their facility on August 26, approximately 7:45 P.M. She was not able to walk on her own, and I was advised that she had a very high fever and was dehydrated. The facility began to put ice packs around Lady to attempt to break her 102 temperature.

I came in the back while they were working on her to see how her condition was. I was told that the fee would be $200 to $400 because a considerable amount of procedures were needed to diagnosis her condition.

I later came back into the examination room to see what the condition of my pet and was told that she had a seizure and was given Valium. While I was back there one of the worker that was providing care for my pet was trying to find a pulse. I had asked at that time was my pet dying and I was told yes. My question is why was my pet still being treated, when the staff assistances knew she was dying.

However, within the hour, Dr. Melissa informed me that more testes would be needed and could possibly cost multiples of thousands of dollars. I questioning her at that time to ensure I understood what she was saying and quoted' to her, are you was saying it could cost me $4,000.00 or more and at that time Dr Melissa, said yes.

I was in totally shock more so because no one was able to give me a prognosis for my pet, or any treatment otpions, just more testes, which had no guarantee on her life.

Therefore I had to make the most difficult decision anyone can ever make for a pet that is a beloved companion. Although the decision was demanded by humanitarian obligation, which was traumatic for me.

It was perhaps the ultimate heartbreak that I must be willing to endure for my adored companion animal. Aside from being the right thing to do, euthanasia can be a psychological nightmare of confusion, guilt and final responsibility, so I agreeded to have my pet, Lady euthanasia so she would not suffer anymore then what she had already endured.

The decision of when to euthanize is as individual and personal as you and your pet are. This is a judgment that only I could make, which involved great personal courage and sacrifice.

After making the decision, one of the staff came out to inform me that Lady was dying and did I still wish to go head and have her euthanize, I advise them to do so, as I did not want to see my pet suffer anymore.

The point that I am trying to make is I feel that both the staff and doctor were well aware that my pet was dying and charged me an excess dollar amount on the behalf of the Michigan Veterinary Specialists office.

I do not want you to be deceive as if I wrote a bad check because I did not. After putting much thought into the situation thinking about how the staff and assistances knew my pet was passing, but still attempting to run more test. I feel I was charged an inappropriated amount.

I do understand I have an obligation to pay and I am willing to pay, but only some of the cost. I do not feel that I should be obligatied to pay the full $1,069.00, with no explanation to how or why my pet died, as your staff was well aware that Lady was dying already.

Sincerely
