On April 6th I purchased a Male Red Mask Dogue De Bordeaux puppy from Ms. Searle, I had him shipped to me from OK. First issue was he was put on the wrong flight without me being notified (BIG ISSUE FOR A SCARED PUP) when I picked him up he was much smaller than Heather had told me he was (CHARGED ME MORE FOR SHIPPING), he also had a handful of ticks on him and his travel crate was absolutely disgusting. I did not call to complain about this because I am an experienced dog owner and was able to remove the ticks myself and immediately threw out the crate, I was just overjoyed to finally have my boy home.
Well now it is a year and 6 months later and I am writing to let every future purchaser know that I was absolutely horrified at what I and my family had to go through this past weekend, our beloved Hooch was diagnosed last week with renal failure... I will spare the horrifying details of his condition and what this poor dog went through as we tried to save him (tubes, catheders, meds... Etc.) but in the end the vet made the call that he needed to be put down as his kidney values would not come down, Now I am angry and decided to take action!!!
The vet insisted on an autopsy as he had never seen anything like it in his entire 35 year career, our boy was always well taken care of, Upon doing the autopsy he discovered that our Dogue baby had kidneys which he described were the size of that of a small cat. A SMALL CAT, this is a 100 lbs Mastiff.
Long story short because it pains me to even type about this, the vet said his kidney disease was congenital and was a result of a poor bloodline or poor breeding. I have tried to contact Heather Searle or Leaming or whoever she is and the numbers that I have are not working, the website is gone and there are no responses to my email. I did not include her phone numbers, email addresses or any of that in here as it is her privacy.
I guess what Im hoping is that Heather will one day see this and do the right thing, this poor animal suffered probably his entire life because of poor breeding habits on her part, I just know the anguish I am experienceing as I loved my mastiff baby boy as one of my own children and his loss was tragic at 1.5 years old.
I paid Heather over $1500 for this dog with shipping costs included and now over $2000 in veterinary bills to try to save his life. I feel for anyone else out there who is experienceing what I am, Heather if you do read this please do the right thing. I understand you will not give me my money back and lord knows I do not want another of your pups after going through this ordeal, but please do not continue to breed dogs. For the sake of children like mine who are heartbroken at the premature passing of their dog who they referred to lovingly as "Bubba".
I hope this helps someone in the future to not have to go through what I went through, BOTTOM LINE, BUYER BEWARE!!
