I was approached by an ADT salesman after moving in to our new home. It sounded like a good deal at the time... Save on insurance, have security for my home, and you get 2-way voice, remote phone access, siren, etc... And you can cancel your contract any time you are not completeely satisfied! Sound to good to be true? It is!
After one month we recieved our first bill...$44.07. The next month more of the same except we discovered that our service wasn't being monitoried. We found out because our alarm went off... We turned of the alarm and waited for ADT to respond, they never called. We called them and they informed that we didn't have a permit from the city of Arlington, we needed to get one and fax it to them. I asked why wern't we told of this when we signed up? Their reply was we can send you a letter. A letter?
Acouple of days later we recieved a letter... Dated 8 days after our contract was signed but its postmarked 40 days after we signed our contract!? I called ADT and asked to cancel our service it was to vague and no service was being rendered. They informed me that if I cancelled it would cost me 75% of the total contract wich came out to be like $780.00! Or just pay $44.07 a month for 3 years for no services rendered. I asked if a service tech could come over and at least fix the alarm and they told me it was working fine... Yet the can't tell me when it goes off!?
If you do get their service contract read it... It says 3 year initial term the agreement automatically continues for 1 year unless subcriber gives written notice of cancellation 30 days prior to end of 3 year contract!
