Verizon wireless health evaluation;
I was offered a contract recruiting position with Verizon Wireless in California. It was resended based on their 3rd party vendor "health evaluation." There was no reason I could not perform the duties I was hired for.
I was not offered any benefits from Verizon either.
However, I was to be on their payroll as a contractor. I have my own health insurance anyway. I don't want corporate America dictating what can and cannot be approved for my health. Believe me, your company (giving directions to your insurance company) negotiate your health every second. Stage 3-4 cancer... NO we don't want to pay the cost for premiums on that, don't offer it to our employees. They negotiate your life for you by partnership with you health insurance company.
Well, I was sent a formal offer letter from Verizon by eMail.
I was then told I would have to have a health evaluation.
I did the drug test and past. However, then a third party vendor in ny contacted me by phone.
Verizon's 3rd party health evaluation vendor demanded I tell them (or, the would NOT recommend me for employment):
1. Any major surgeries I've had
2. Any major illnesses I've had
3. Previous hospital visits
4. Allergies
I was shocked. I just completed a year long project with Cingular Wireless prior to their ATT acquisition. I had 10-12 favorable references. I was NOT taking Verizon Wireless health insurance, it was not offered to me.
I refused to answer Verizon's health evaluation questions and the offer was resended.
I kept all eMail documentation and would be happy to give this to anyone to fight against this.
It's a shame. I bet there are a lot of disabled people out there who would like to have a job. I was not disabled.
Being unemployed now, I have time to fight back finally with filling this report.
