Handyman Express
Ripoff tricked and lied to us

We were estimated 8 hours to replace some vinyl, tile, and faucet in our bathrooms on two separate occasions. Finally after 33 hours, the job was completed with amateur quality at best, in addition to the workman creating a leak and ruining the upstairs floor and downstairs ceiling. We It took additional hours, approximately 16, to bring the work up to reasonable standards. However, we were told that the cracks between the vinyl squares would no longer be visible in 3 months, which they never did. Of course, I don't want them near my home again, having found the handyman going through our personal belongings and Dennis Hisey's continuous lies.

During my 2nd complaint when Dennis came to inspect the work, I mentioned the materials cost. Craig, the workman, had said that the materials were up to $50. He only had a small section, approx. 4'9' x 2' of plywood to purchase. All other materials were either purchased by me or a result of the leak that was created. During my 2nd complaint when Dennis came to inspect the work, I mentioned the materials cost. He agreed to supply me with a copy.

On 11/6/01, I called and spoke to Dennis. He said he would pull the invoice and call me back. A week later, I received a written list of materials, which I had suggested on the phone, but he declined. It was a simple list without itemized cost and a total of $154.64, which differed from the original cost on the invoice. It was a fraudulent list, billing for stain and filler, which was not used.

In addition, we were charged for adhesive for tile, stating we ran out of what you had purchased which is again untrue since we still have the adhesive that sat at the end of the hall with all the other materials until the second repair man had finished the upstairs and did not use the adhesive. Also included were a floor leveler and rental of a crimping tool, which we were told that the handyman would bring all needed tools and we only needed to supply the materials.

It has been such a horrific ordeal, and I feel like they lured me with a low estimate, then sent in an incompetent workman, who did substandard work and created damage to my home, and finally tried to fraudulently charge me for materials. Through two complaints to the Better Business Bureau, the materials charge was refunded. However, this took nearly six months and the work still makes me cringe!!! In addition, I had to make several calls and emails to the BBB in order for them to show a complaint was made to this company!
