I got a quote from them to move from Worcester, MA. To Norfolk, VA. I told listed all the items that would be moving and they said that was about 4000lbs. They quoted me at 40 cents a lbs for $1600.00. They had told me their estimates are really acurate. If they are off, it is only a couple hundred pounds.
They had told me they would be at my home to pick up my goods on Friday between 10am and 12noon. I didn't get a call until after 11am saying they couldn't make it because the truck was full already. They then said they would be there Saturday between 10am and 12noon. At 12:30pm I called to find out where they were. I am already missing two days of work because of them. They said they were having trouble and they would be there. I continued to call all day long to find the statis of the movers. They didn't show up until 10:15pm.
This is 36 hours after they had told me. Plus, what company works at this time of night. When they arrived, they had me fill out some paper work, and showed me my estimate of $1600. Then after filling out the paper work very fast they told me everything that wasn't packed already, had to be packed their way. They then backed the truck up into my driveway and hit a huge maple tree in my yard. The tree ripped the roof off the truck. Also damaged the tree.
They then spent around 1/2 hour looking over the damage to the truck. Then they proceed to pack everything. After it was all packed, and 4 hours later, they filled out the rest of the paper work. The total was now $4959.50. Three times the amount of the quote. They then wanted a tip. No way they were getting that. But they already had my goods. So I was screwed. As they were leaving they broke my last glass, which was an accident, in the house which I used to give them water. They then picked up the big pieces and put the broken glass on the counter and left. They didn't pick up the rest of the glass. I didn't know they left broken glass on my floor. I cut my foot on the glass, not bad though.
In the morning I had realized how much I had gotten taken advantage of. I called the bank and stopped payment on the check I had given to them. It is now taking a long time to even get them to cancel my shipment. It will still cost me $1465 to get my stuff back, and there is no telling if I will ever see it again. I am still working this out with them. They will not get any more of my money until I can be sure of getting my stuff. It's not even my stuff. If it was, I would tell them to just keep it and shove it up their ass.
