We switched phone service from Comcast Digital phone to Earthlink Digital phone based on a promotion offering 25,000 airline miles for 6 months service. Seems great right? When the service is so bad I refuse to call home anymore because of the static and echo. All of my friends refuse to call anymore for the same reason. My connections drop randomly. I can't access my voicemail 85% of the time. And NOTHING they do can fix it.
When we finally CANNOT STAND IT ANYMORE (after a month) and call to cancel, they not only refuse to admit there is an issue, or refund our money... They also want to charge us $300 for the airline miles. When we say, "keep the miles" we want our money, they tell us they will be keeping the miles AND will be charging us the money since we didn't make the six months. That's right. Charge us for HORRIBLE service; argue there is a problem; and then have the nerve to charge us an extra $300 for airline miles we will never see.
When we question this practice, they quote their service contract as saying it's a "best attempt service". Best attempt??? When we threaten to contact the better business bureau and the attorney general of our state, they say "go ahead". AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE, save yourself the headache, and spread the word. Companies like this do not deserve our money.
