We had a contract with Samsom to move us for 3 hours. The drivers showed up nearly two hours late and would not accept payment on two credit cards which was okayed by the main office. The first thing the main driver did was sit on our couch and tell my husband that "you tip movers your know". Then he looked around the house and said there is too much stuff. It was clear by his initial reaction that he did not want to do the job. They had a job in the morning and another on after us. The main driver said we had to have most of it in cash and the rest on the credit card.
I went to the bank and got the cash and we gave them payment for three hours of service, which we were contracted for. The main driver then went around to the back side of the truck and got on the phone to call in the credit card. The other drives came over to us and recommended that we find another company because this guy is having issues on the phone. They said we were better off calling and finding another truck. The main guy then returned and said they could not do our drop. He gave us back the cash and credit card and they truck pulled away leaving my husband and I with a 2 bedroom apartment full of stuff, no truck and no movers in 106 degree weather in Chicago.
Plus I have fibromyalgia and had just received two cortisone shots in both hips and was told to rest the entire weekend. Because it was the last weekend of the month all of the moving companies were booked and we could not find a moving truck for rent anywhere. My husband and I made two trips in the van that night on our own. I had to move things which aggravated my hip bursas' shots and my fibromyalgia.
I found a student moving company that could help us on Sunday. Two students and another van showed up on Sunday. We made two trips with them and their fee cost us $600.00. We also had to pay over $200 for van rental, gas and dollys. Our move cost nearly $1000 and we still did not have everything moved by the weekend. My husband finally found a cargo van for rent and we moved our entire hours over a period of 6 days none stop. It was the worst move of my life. I have pictures to see how bruised up we got and how exhausted we were.
