Stamps.com sent me several emails saying that they could not bill my credit card for my new account. However, I never signed up for an account nor do I know who they were.
When I asked for evidence that I had indeed signed up, they could not provide anything more than the "welcome screen" they supposedly sent and the last 4 digits of a credit card that was supposedly used to start the account. The last four digits do not match any credit card I now or have ever had.
In addition, they took over 4 months to supposedly discover that the credit card provided was "no good" and indicated I owe them the money for the last 4 months of "service" (which, incidentally, I could get free from the USPS if I had ever chosen to use such a service in the first place!)
It appears that they fraudently set up accounts and then try to scam you into paying for "service charges in arrears" or else they will report you as a "bad credit" customer.
