Oakwood, Vanderbilt ripoff

I to am was lied to by Oakwood, I bought a 1997 doublewide mobile home in 1999. I did not get to see the mobile home before I bought it. The dealer that we bought the mobile home from said that we could refinance within a year because our credit scores weren't that high and our interest would be 15.75
after the first year when I would refinace they would lower my interest.

When the mobile home arrived there was alot wrong with it. I was told to make a list and they would take care of it. All this was recorded on tape. Well when the list didn't get taken care of my husband and I went up to talk with them, well we found out that the person who had made the deal with us was fired and the tape was destroyed, we also were to pick up our copy of the tape that same day.

I called Oakwood and told them that I wanted all the repairs taken care of and they just about laughed in our face. When the year was up I called Oakwood and asked them about the refinance and they said that they were not refinancing at this time.

After a time went by we were having some financial problems so I called Oakwood again and told them that we were going to be a little behind for a couple of months which meant that we couldn't pay on the first but in the middle of the month. He was very rude said that if I couldn't get the payments in on time that they were going to take our home and we would all be on the street and they didn't care one way or the other.

I have four kids, so I got nervous and borrowed the money from family. After then he was always calling me and harrassing me and making me cry. I got to the point where I wouldn't answer the phone.

The harrassment continued all the way up to when Vanderbilt took over Oakwood well they are no better, and that because it seemed that the same employees worked for them. I finally told Vanderbilt that if that person ever called my home again that I would get a lawyer.

I have had the same problems with Vanderbilt, They don't care about no one but themselves. I asked them about refinancing and they told me that they were not refinancing at this time, when I asked them why they sent me a flyer for refinancing they said it must had been a mistake and just about called me a liar saying I never received such a flyer.

Just recently my husband had to change employers and we have had a hard time and I called them to let them know this and that I was in the hospital having surgery and I almost passed away. They don't care about anyone, They called me a few days ago and told me that if I don't pay them 4,000 dollars that they will repo the mobile home. I asked them how can I be so behind and they told me because that I never pay on the first of the month that the interest goes up and it adds up.

I will probably have to let it go back because I can't raise that much money and I guess we will be out in the streets. I talked to them to see if they would lower our payments so we could pay on time and they said no.

I told them that I have already paid them since 1999 48,000 dollars and I still owe them the same amount that I bought the mobile home for. Something don't seem right. I know why they don't want to refinance and lower my payments because we are paying 15.75 percent interest and they are getting rich on our money and it don't look like we will ever pay this mobile home. Seems like a dead end.

Hopeless
