Verizon
Wireless Ripoff Ring tone scam participant

Verizon wireless appears to be a willing partner in a ripoff scheme for selling ringtones. While on a weather reporting site, I clicked on a pop up for free ringtones. After entering my cell phone number and clicking enter, I recieved a message by email and text on my cellphone that I was automatically signed up for a subscription to a joke line. There was no indication on the website that this would be the result of getting a free ringtone.

I immediately did as instructed to unsubscribe. A week later, I found that my prepaid minutes had decreased by $6.09 two times. I called Verizon Customer service, and they indicated the payments were to blingo, and they insisted they were not responsible and could do nothing about these deductions. I explained that they were deducting money from my account for a ripoff, and giving my funds to a ripoff company. I asked to speak to a supervisor, who also insisted that Verizon was not responsible. Verizon IS responsible! They are acting as an agent for this ripoff company by collecting funds for them, and are also benefiting by selling additional minutes, to make up for the minutes they deducted from my account.
