Ripoff, stole $600 and only giving back $400!

This company is a CROCK!!! I had Dish Network for about 2 months and loved the service. However, I moved on 4/22/06 and called to have my service moved with me. A technician came out and told me he could not set up my service and suggested I move my home (I live in a trailer which contrary to popular belief, does not move. I was then told that I would need to cancel my service and pay a cancellation fee of $200. I don't think so.

I called and complained that someone else needed to come out and try to set up my service and I would not be paying a cancellation fee because I did not want the service cancelled. I also told them that I would not pay a bill for any service after 4/22 because that was the day I moved and no longer had their service. I waited for a confirmation call that a technician was coming out to set up my service.

That call never came and no technician ever came out again. I just got an empty box delivered from Dish Network to send back their equipment. The equipment was sitting on my front porch this morning for UPS to pick up and send back to Dish Network. I just checked my bank statement and saw that there was a charge for $600 from Dish Network. I called to find out why they charged me $600 and that idiot's response was that they would refund me when they got there equipment. I was then told that my account was cancelled on 6/11/06 due to non-payment (well DUH, I'm not going to pay for something I no longer have). They told me I would get my refund when they receive their equipment.

Well that's all fine and good but I was not aware that they were going to take money from my account for equipment if they didn't get the equipment back within 15 days of cancelling my service. I was never informed that my service was cancelled. And before someone gets smart and asks how long I had the empty box to send the equipment back, it was only a few days. Sorry I have a job that keeps me at work from 5:30am to 6:00pm. So I called my bank to get my money back and we got Dish Network on the phone.

I was told by Dish Network that I would be receiving a refund of $400 when they get their equipment back (which as I type is on it's way to a UPS store to be sent back to those bastards) because they are charging me for the cancellation fee of $200. So, you cancel my service and I have to pay you to do that? I have to pay to cancel a service that I actually liked and didn't want to cancel. Beware and stay away from dish network. I now have service with Directv and couldn't be happier. Dish Network, I hope your company goes belly up. And from all the complaints I've read about your company, I think there's a good chance that will happen. Bite me.
