On Friday May 26 we went to the Doller Store to get a couple of items. My daughter always likes to get something she happend to pick out Hansens Juice boxes my niece was with me and she said she wanted some too so we got two boxes.
We came home had lunch the girls drank a juice each and my son had one also. After lunch was nap time they took a pretty long nap around 2pm.
After like a hour my son wakes up throwing up. I took him to the rest room and he was complaning of a stomach ache and he felt shacky. He was finally able to hold down some water and crackers.
As a worried mom I checked his temp and then thought of what he had to eat. I looked and smelled the macaroni and then i checked the juice.
The juice was dated on the top 20 apr 05... So it was one year expied. I got scared and checked on the girls they were up from there nap and playing but my niece said her stomach hurt too (without me asking).
I called the doctor and they told me to call poison control. So i did Steve was my aide and he did a wonderful job. I gave him all the info on what happend and everything. He said to treat it like food poisoning and to not let it last for 24 hours to take him to the emergency if it did last that long. He even called me back like 4 hours later to check on my kids he was very helpful. After i got off the phone with Steve i contacted the Doller Store to let them know what had happend.
I talked to a lady named Susan and she told me to take in the product and recipet. So i did. She had me write my name and info on a card and she was going to give it to the store manager Conrad on monday. I didnt get a refund mind you it was only 2 dollers but I didnt care about that i just wanted to be taken care of and for them to show concern.
So Monday comes around and i get no phone call from Conrad. So I call him. No answer. I called again... No answer. So it is Memorial Day and i figure they are closed. So i drive down their. No the Doller Tree is open. I walk in and see Conrad in the office. I let him no my name and my situation, he has no idea what had happend... On the floor was a basket with all the juice from the shelf and a card on it saying OUTDATED. My information hadn't made it to him at all. Susan took all my information and my juice and my reciept.
My conversation with Conrad was short. He basically said we took it off the shelf so everything is ok. Then i said no its not ok my 2 year old son was very sick. Then he said he's better now right? And that was it. I walked out of the store just like that. He could care less all that matters is its off the shelf. Not even with my 2 doller refund or anything he didnt care about how i felt. I was worried sick that the kids were going to get sicker then they were.
I have had food poisoning before and im a full grown 24 year old. My son is 2 and no more then 35 pounds.
I hate being treated like its all ok now because the juice is off the shelf. He seriously couldnt of cared any less.
