Just got off the phone with Amanda at First Merit Bank in Wayne, Ohio. Called to complain about over draft fees to my account.
Check my account online at 1 am on friday May 26, nothing new had been posted. When I checked my account online at 3:15 pm friday the 26 I had 3 checks come in and now they are back dated to thursday the 25. At 3:26 I deposited 250.00 into my account.By Sat. Morning the 27, I now have two overdraft fees of 33.00 each. Not to mention that my ihop charge that had been put on hold is now no longer showing. When I talked to Amanda she told me that the online banking is only a tool to help you, not to do your banking by. When I told her about the back dating of the checks she told me she doesn't know why they do that and she would have to ask the online division.
When I asked about the ihop charge disappearing she said that after 3 days of being on hold they drop off! Where do they go??? And that the money is then made available again. I told her that was dumb why would they make money that had been put on hold for payment available again. Told her I am not happy and I am looking for another bank.
Feel like they hold us hostage in this small town because we have no other bank close by. Have had other checking accounts and have not had these issues.
