Lowlife Alltel agent took advantage of my 80 yr. Old mother when she called to terminate service. Mom has been a long term Altel customer in good standing with no contract obligations pending. When her old phone quit working she decided at her age she no longer needed a cell phone. When she finally got a real person on the phone at Alltel the person convinced mom to accept a new phone for a 30 day trial at NO CHARGE and NO CHANGE in service or contract obligations.
21 days after receipt of new phone a bill arrives showing a line item charge of $39. For 'accessories'! Mom called Alltel back to return phone and terminate service. This time she was told to go to local Alltel office to return phone.
Local office informed Mom she could not return phone and terminate service without paying $200. Penalty. To her shock and dismay she was informed her contract had been renewed for 2 years because she accepted the new phone and 15 days had passed!
Next day I called Alltel myself. After explaining the situation, the agent I talked to said she could not do anything so I asked for her supervisor. The supervisor was extremely rude and obnoxious, saying there was a binding contract and will not change anything.
This horrible, unethical company took advantage of my elderly mother!
Buyers BEWARE!!! Do you want to be obligated to a company who treats long time customers this way? I hope not.
