When I needed to relocate from GA to MA, I contracted with A.D.S. Moving & Storage for the move. Not wanting any surprises, we obtained a binding contract clearly stating the total price. The "total guaranteed price" was $4646.94.
The day they came to pick up, they asked for a deposit of $1700.00 in the form of a bank check, which I paid. When they arrived in MA, (10 days later than we agreed on), they demanded another $5401.18 to unload. My entire household possessions were basically held hostage unless we came up with the money.
We paid this ransom, then filed suit in small claims court. We won the judgement in excess of $2100.00, which was duly served on A.D.S. That was back in Dec. and to date, A.D.S. Is refusing to pay. The court here told us that it's nearly impossible to collect an out of state judgement. Short of going to GA and filing there, what are my alternatives? I'm stone broke at this point.
