My story is like many of the stories listed before. I was scammed by the Americas Choice Reader Service company. I'm a 19 year old college student with a low income family. I had been getting calls from an unregistered number on my cell phone but I had not been able to answer the calls because they always called while I was in class.
When I could finally answer the call, I was told that I had won a $1000 shopping spree for having a visa credit card. I was skeptical at first but the person on the line told me that I was refered by a marketing company and they even had my credit card information. They then told me to that all I had to do was sign up for their magazines. I went ahead with it because I figured I could cancel later on. When I called to cancel I was told that the cancellation date had passed and that there was nothing I could do.
The representative was very rude and tried to talk to me like I was a child. They then offered me a cancellation fee of $400. I went ahead and charged it on my card. I am now in debt because of this company. They scammed me thinking that I had won $1000. I never got the $1000 shopping spree and when I called them about it they told me I would get it when I made my first 4 payments. I feel cheated and if anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
