If you're in the market for an in-ground pool, make sure you don't use Rainey Pool Company! Quite honestly, you are better off grabbing a shovel and digging yourself a mud hole.in addition to taking your money and then leaving you to SINK or swim (pun intended), they have one of the most incompetent staff I've ever seen, that is, the helpful ones usually last a few months and are then fired or "no longer working here."
In fairness, they build a beautiful pool. However, when we had ours "expertly" designed, we asked for the best filtration and chlorination system availble. Later we found out that the modular media filtration system is not very good or efficient. They neglected to offer the "salt system" for chlorination, mainly to ensure that they would get the future sales from the chemicals that we would eventually have to buy. Unfortunately, as new pool owners, we didn't research enough.
When we hired their services to clean the pool on a weekly basis, we were charged around $200 per month— a pretty reasonable rate. However, for about two months, the guy would show up at our property in a sportscar (not a pool cleaning vehicle) to get the net and swirl it around for about 5 mintues. Several times, he claimed that he did not bring any chemicals and asked to use ours. He would note on the work ticket that he was there for 30 to 40 minutes! The pool was never clean.in fact, it was starting to turn GREEN! When we talked to the service manager, she claimed that if we gave her another chance, they would come out and give the pool a comprehensive cleaning at no charge.
After only one season of pool enjoyment, last summer (the following season) was a disaster— we never got to use the pool! The equipment started malfunctioning and because we had a warranty, they promised to fix it. However, they didn't get there until weeks later and green sludge started forming. Even after they replaced the parts, they did not notify us until I went into the office and inquired as to when they were going to fix it. They had to dig around for some paperwork and finally returned to state that they repaired it last week! UGH!
After everything was up and running, I asked the service manager when she would be coming to do the previously promised free comprehensive cleaning and was told "that was so long ago, we can't do it now." Even after explaining to her that the reason it took so long was because the warranty department took forever to repair the equipment, she said "sorry hun, nothing we can do. But we will be glad to sell you the chemicals."
Bottom line, if you want a first-class pool, go with someone who has a better reputation. The local pool supply companies like Leslie's and Warehouse Pool Supply have told me that most customers of Rainey Pool company did not have anything good to say about the company. Buyer beware!
