Complaint / Review
Allied Interstate
Ripoff

I got home from work late tonight; several calls from a 713 area code showed on the caller ID but no message was left on the machine. About thirty minutes after I got in, the phone rang-same number. I answered and waited to hear who was calling. All I heard was the line return to a dial tone after about thiry seconds.

I decided it was a wrong number, and forgot about it until an hour later, when my roommate decided to call the number on his cellphone to find out who it was. He has friends in the Houston area, and thought it might be one of them.

It wasn't. But it took three more calls from me to find out who this luntaic was that was throwing out lines like "Well, you don't pay your bills, do you? So now we are the third collection agency to try to work with you, but oh honey, you have gots to pay a whole lots more than $20.00 a month!" I couldn't even get enough of a word in edgewise to find out who this collection agency was representing, and the very unprofessional operator hung up on me when I asked her to calm down and let me know who she was, why she was calling, and why she was being so rude-three times. The fourth time I called she did tell me what it was about, but then refused to give me an address, refused to explain why this was the first I'd heard of this matter going to a collection agency, and when I repeatedly requested to speak to a supervisor (over her harrangue about my being a no-good deadbeat, that they were going to ruin what little credit I have left, contact the IRS and my job-WHAT?) she hung up on me.

I called back again. This time I went on hold and listened to the canned spiel-that is how I found out the company name.

Unfortunately, just as I was about to copy down the fax number the helpful recorded voice was about to state, someone picked up, then hung up.

That is when I 'Googled' Allied Data Collection Agency, and found my way here to consumer complaints.

I do owe the original creditor money-I don't blame them for turning this over to a collection agency, although they (the original creditor) haven't contacted me since January, when I told them I would start making payments as soon as I found a place to live-I've been essentially homeless since October. I am ashamed of that, but just as things are starting to look up for me-I have a new job, and a place to stay-here comes Allied and threatens to get me fired from my new job.

Huh? How can I pay if I lose my job because of these unethical people?

I don't think they want me to pay, I think they want to terrorize me.
