I am a single mom who was living in a very bad one bedroom apartment in a very dangerous neighborhood with my 4 year old and was desperatly searching for a place to move out immediatly b/c i could no longer even have my son stay with me at night after a neighbor tried to steal my car for the second time and pointed a gun at us when we caught him.
All of this was explained to these people who for some reason had to disguise themselves in the rental adds, never advertising who exactly they were. This i suppose should have tipped me off, but i was desperate, they said i could be in a new place before the weekend. So i drove all the way to their office, signed their contract (which they breached anyway so if i could afford a lawyer, we'd probably win) gave them my money, Took their stupid packet and drove all the way home... Then i drove for hours after taking the packet and finding directions to the places in the packet. I was told to do drive bys and then call them and they would call their field person to let me in (who was supposed to be in the area) Everytime i called and talked with them i stressed the urgency and importance that i leave that weekend and every time she asured me. Hours went by i was still calling they said they haven't heard back from the person that was supposed to let me in and that it would have to wait til the next day.
So they next day when i woke up i began calling again. Oh yeah, we'll call you right back... Is what i got... Needless to say, buy the last day, sunday i realized i was getting ripped off! I had wasted all that time trying to get them to help me like they stated they would in their contract. I wasted time doing drive bys to places that were not even available and the people living their had no clue what i was talking about, they had been their for months/or years and had no intentions to move.
It specifically says that i would recieve information on current available openings. My packet was dated 7/26/05 I went there to sign and get the info on 7/29/05.
So, luckily i was able, on my own to find a place to move into away from the dangerous area i was living and resumed life with my son. A few weeks later i called to get my refund (stated as 150 if they were unable to find me a place)
She told me that i couldn't get the refund until 60 days after i signed it. Okay fine, so i gave her my address and signed a 'refund request' form. And a representative called me to say that i would not be getting my refund because i did not waste my time/money to drive up there in person 2 times a week to get updated packets (which obviously were a bunch of you know what). And i was like, I found a place to live, i called you guys a million times for days and no response, why would i drive up two times a week? To thank them for all their help??? I was extreamly mad by this point and asked to speak to her supervisor she refused saying she didn't have one, but she wasn't the owner, and later on stating only she could contact her corprate office...
Further more i still have not recieve my refund check and think all of this is crap... Especially since they knew what dire situation i was in, and that 200 i paid was a hard to come by unexpected expense. I would appreciate any ideas on what to do to maybe get this resolved... And if not, tell everyone you know not to walk within 10 blocks of this evil place!!!
