In January, we sent, vis UPS, a large box to Walnut Creek, CA. The address was an apartment building. So far, so good. The box was left at the address as expected. Two weeks later, we sent two smaller boxes to the same address. This time, the boxes wewre not delivered even though the driver stated he would deliver the boxes and leave them at the door.instead, the boxes were sent back.
The reasons were: 1) They don't leave boxes at apartments or 2) It is up to the discretion of the individual driver whether or not to leave boxes 3) the driver's small computer beeps to let him know if he can leave a box at a given address 4) the addressee was not home to sign for the boxes (this is true as the addressee works days), and the addressee called the service and was told the boxes would be held and re-delivered.
Instead, the boxes were sent back (this took 8 days), and UPS kept our money ($34.17), and we were told it is our fault and the addressees fault that the packages were not delivered. We will never use UPS again nor will the addressee no matter what. The UPS competitor that we took the boxes to was extremely helpful and guaranteed that the boxes would be delivered even providing a date and time for the delivery and for less money.
