I found out about an outstanding bill with finger hut when my husband and I re-financed our house in late 2004 and it was listed on our credit report. I finally was able contact someone from fingerhut and they told me the bill was from the early 1990's? I told them I had not ordered anything and had not recieved anything, I asked them if they had a signature on file from me and they said no.
Fingerhut informed me that they would remove this delinquent bill from our credit report as an error. I never checked the report again. Dumb, on my part.
I recieved a Nasty call from Midland Credit 2/17 stating they bought my debt from fingerhut, I tried explaining what happened in they did not care they wanted a check or credit card number over the phone immediatley. I asked them if they could give me fingerhut's number? They said no the only info they have is that I have debt that needs to be paid. They need a letter from fingerhut addressed to me stating that the debt was sent to Midland Credit in error. Well I cannot get a hold of anyone from fingerhut.
Please help, how do I get this removed? They are saing this bill is over 10-years old. Is there a limit.
