My 15yr old grandaughter, downloaded ringtones, music from the internet on her new i-pod. She was unaware of the costs. After $1000.00 was accrued I recieved a phone call telling me I owed this amount. Several phonecalls later, to alltel I was told my bill would be changed to a different plan which would reduce the charges and would appear on my next bill. This never happened.
More phone calls, finally I had enough and cancelled the service. I was then told I would be charged $200.00 per phone for this even though my contract had expired. I was never told that if you did anything like buy a new phone because yours was not useable that your contract started over.
After all was said and done my bill was now up to $1400.00 then they added more charges which I have no idea about until the bill was up to over $1900.00. I've e-mailed, tried calling (got caught in the recorded message maze) and finally decided to pay $5.00 a month to keep out of collection.
Alltel has no conscience, no concern over their ripoff business practices, and offers no recourse. I did want to resolve this problem but could never reach a live person to help me.
