Yet another victim of J. K Harris! I signed on in April based on false information given to me by their field sales force. Stephen Wright and Christine Ditter met with me in their Bedford NH office and asked detailed questions about my tax problem, financial situation and decided that I would qualify for an OIC based on my situation.
I specifically asked if the IRS would use the market value of my home as a benchmark for my ability to repay my past due taxes. I was told that the IRS would only use the assessed value of my home less 20% for a quick sale to determine if I could pay. At the time I happened to owe exactly what the city had assessed me for.
Based on the information I was told I would probably only have to pay $7,000.00 but they would have someone collect more detailed info and begin the process if I would pay them $5,300. For their services. Based on that information I decided to hire them and move forward.
Turns out I would actually have to offer more but it was still just pennies on the dollar compared to what I owed.
At the time I could have just paid the amount due and moved on with my life. Now with almost 2 years behind me and another $30,000.00 in penalties, interest, legal fees and untold amounts of lost income from having my credit ruined and home attached, I have no way of paying the full amount now.
Not only did they originally misrepresent the facts of my options but they also never did the work they agreed to and assigned me 3 different consultants after I complained of not getting return calls for basic questions.
I have filed complaints about this company with everyone I can think of from the state attorney to the IRS and no-one seems able to help me or interested in stopping this company.
I have had to hire another law firm to try and resolve this problem, I have almost been put out of business because of my credit and am now concerned about losing my home.
If anyone has any idea how I might try to get back at least my original payment to them or knows an attorney/organization that can help me recover losses because of their advice, I would truly appreciate it.
